Health Rocks!

Health Rocks! day camp was a great success! We had a fun and busy three days of Health Rocks! day camp. Everyone who attended participated in a taste test, physical activity and made healthy snacks each day. On Monday Reser Bicycle of Newport, KY talked to us about bike safety and why we need to wear a helmet when riding our bikes. Kate Vaught talked to us about our BONES and the importance of calcium and we participated in the Milk Challenge. We had Dr. Herald of Herald Family Density located in Southgate, KY stop by on Tuesday to discuss oral hygiene and explain the proper way to brush and floss your teeth. We also talked about how to eat healthy when eating fast food and we picked out the healthy fast food options at fast food restaurants! On our last day Sallie Parker Lotz from NKU talked to us about the health related programs NKU has and the types of jobs you can have in health. Barb Heck explained sun safety and the importance of sun screen. Ronda Rex also stopped by and explained the consequences of smoking and why we shouldn’t smoke. At the end of Health Rocks! each camper had the chance to win some really cool prizes such as reds tickets and bicycles! Overall Health Rocks! day camp was awesome! Everyone had a great time and learned a lot of good information to keep us healthy.
