Newport is Taking it to the Streets for 2nd Sunday! Fun and Healthy Activities for the Whole Family! On October 11, 2009, Newport’s Monmouth Street business district becomes the center of an action-packed Sunday on Oct. 11, offering everything from bicycle rides and bike rodeos to karate demonstrations and gardening tips. Monmouth Street will be closed to all but pedestrians and cyclists between 2-5 p.m., from 6th to 10th streets, allowing the usually busy thoroughfare to serve as a people-friendly stage for the afternoon’s activity.
